State Library of Victoria Forecourt

The new design concept developed by City of Melbourne and refined by HASSELL has built upon the established theme of the 1930s’ design which at that time saw the removal of cast iron fencing, the construction of new diagonal approach paths, the use of Australian plants and the incorporation of two Jagger statues of the Second World War soldiers creating a local character and image. Involvement from HASSELL has seen the major elements of pavements, walls, planting areas, and lawns have been reconstructed in a manner consistent with the sophistication of the historic site design.
