Parramatta Transport Interchange |

Rail station design in Australia is undergoing a transformation. Stations are once again assuming their rightful place as urban markers in our cities; points of reference for local communities and civic buildings that speak of contemporary attitudes to the technologies, social and environmental issues of our age.
Beyond these city building aspirations, the $200m Parramatta Station and Transport Interchange provides heightened amenity for rail and bus passengers. The light, floating roof affords generous shelter from wind and rain and reaches out over Argyle Street to embrace the bus interchange. The integrated rail services and roof structure frames 45 rectangular parasols through which sunlight passes to warm and calm the waiting passengers. On Argyle and Darcy Streets delicate facades of glass louvres allow cooling breezes to pass through the station and fuse internal and external spaces.
The new station has received wide design acclaim and heralds the repositioning of Parramatta as an urbane city and the commercial heart of Western Sydney.
