HASSELL is delighted to announce the following Principal appointments:
Daniel Bennett, Principal, Adelaide
Daniel has been Discipline Leader of the Landscape Architecture Discipline in the Adelaide studio since joining HASSELL in 2004. He has extensive experience on a diverse range of projects across Australia, the UK and Asia, in urban design, landscape architecture and master planning, and has a proven track record in delivering complex public domain and infrastructure projects. His focus is on collaborating with his colleagues, consultants and clients - ensuring exceptional design outcomes.
Daniel is currently directing several significant urban design projects that will set new benchmarks in urban design in South Australia, including the $118 million South Road Upgrade; ANZAC Highway Underpass - a major infrastructure project in Adelaide; and the award winning Port Adelaide Centre Vision and Urban Design Framework - a town centre rejuvenation strategy for the South Australian Government.
Mary White, Principal, Adelaide
Mary is Discipline Leader of the Adelaide Interior Design team and has been promoted to Principal of the firm. With more than 18 years’ experience in commercial interior design in the private and public sector, Mary has a long list of proven successes in workplace design and the interior design of public buildings.
Mary is committed to a collaborative design process, working across the multidisciplinary teams within HASSELL, with clients and project teams. She is passionate about sustainability and is a member of the HASSELL sustainability teams, internationally and locally, and is a committee member of the Property Council of Australia’s Sustainability Committee in SA.
Mary is the project team leader on the SA Water workplace, which is targeting a Six Star Green Star rating for the office interior, and is also involved in the design of the base building. Other award winning projects with which Mary has been involved include the Next Generation Leisure Centre and the AGL workplace (SA). The design for AGL’s workplace in Adelaide set the new national benchmark, which has now been implemented by HASSELL in Melbourne and Sydney.
Joanne Hartsias, Principal, Melbourne
Joanne is Discipline Leader of the Melbourne Planning team and has been promoted to Principal of HASSELL.
With more than ten years’ experience in local government and the private sector, she has a proven track record across a diverse range of projects and is a firm believer in working collaboratively with clients to achieve sustainable solutions. She is also an experienced facilitator and consultation expert and has co-ordinated several large-scale consultation programmes for a variety of projects, including amendment proposals, master plans and structure plans. She is presently involved with a number of state significant projects within the Melbourne CBD, Urban Growth Area and Melbourne Docklands. Current projects include Worthington Estate in Pakenham, Yarra’s Edge Tower 8 and the award-winning Waterfront City.
Joanne is also a member of the Property Council of Australia (VIC) Planning Committee.
