The January/February edition of Architecture Australia magazine features a transcript of the 2009 A.S. Hook Address by HASSELL Chairman, Ken Maher, who was awarded the Australian Institute of Architects 2009 Gold Medal.
In receiving this award, Ken follows in the footsteps of John Morphett, former HASSELL Chairman and Managing Director, and Jack McConnell, a founding partner of HASSELL.
"The Gold Medal is the Australian Institute of Architects' highest accolade. It recognises distinguished service by Australian architects who have designed or executed buildings of high merit, produced work of great distinction resulting in the advancement of architecture, or endowed the profession of architecture in a distinguished manner."
Ken's work in architecture and landscape architecture has been recognised on many occasions for excellence in design, including NSW's top award for public architecture, the Australian Institute of Architects Sir John Sulman Award for the National Institute of Dramatic Art (2002) and the Olympic Park Rail Station (1998) in Sydney.
