Westpac Place

HASSELL

The Westpac Place interiors project was jointly designed and developed through a collaboration between HASSELL and Geyer, with strategic briefing by DEGW. Ken Maher, Chairman of HASSELL, undertook the role as Design Director for this project ensuring that Westpac’s aspirations were interpreted into an innovative design solution catering for a 5,000 strong population. The design concept for Westpac's new workplace was formulated around an urban paradigm, where the lessons of successful cities are applied to this vertical community. The introduction of an open internal stairway linking 27 of the 32 floors gives a sense of connection and community through increased accessibility. The floors themselves are grouped into ‘quarters’ as in a city - a three floor planning philosophy defines each quarter and offers specifically designed environments with a range of facilities dispersed throughout, encouraging movement within and between the quarters. A series of key destinations, functioning as cafes, are threaded throughout the building to act as attractors and places for events bringing a richness to the experience of the workplace.
